One: I smelled autumn in the air today. It’s on the way here, and I’ve seen leaves changing color already.

Two: Once again (and I’ve answered this so many times I’m sick of the question): I’ve explained time and again on Facebook, on this blog, on Twitter, in my newsletters, why my indie paperbacks are going to be so much more expensive than the e-book.

Here’s the final word: It is what it is, and if you want a paperback option, it WILL cost more. There’s no more to be said about it. If you want to read my longer statement on it, you can do so here. Read ALL the way through, please.

SO MANY of you have been so wonderfully supportive about me going indie that when I get grumbling complaints, it actually kind of throws me a bit…but the fact is, I’m getting enough people who don’t want to accept that this is the way things are, that I’ve backed off from social media more than I already had. We can’t all have everything exactly the way we want it–not even me. So…there’s that.

I love your writing . Your characters and their worlds are so real. I am fortunate that I have been able to have all the sister books in paperback, the last few signed. I will continue to buy your books in in paperback or e-format. A book is a book is a book, and I love all of yours. Thank you for continuing to produce books. I am very thankful that you had the option to go indie. Blessed Be

Some people are miserable fatheads and you’ll never make them happy. We appreciate your efforts! Carry on!

Sorry you’ve been having problems with people. Some people will just never get it, no matter how many times you explain it to them. I’ve never been able to afford to buy your books, because I usually have no money (even the few times I’ve had jobs the money has had to go on bills and my furbabies, I have no money left over for what some silly people would call luxuries, like books). I have to content myself with checking them out of my local library and reading them that way. The only books I’ve ever been able to get for my Knidle, with one exception, have been free downloads from places like Amazon. I would love to be able to add your books to my collection someday, whenever I have money that doesn’t have to go on necessities (bills, furbabies, food…) but with furbabies who seem to think that anything made out of paper or plastic is food (no idea), I will wind up having to get them all in ebook format. I have read all but your last couple Otherworld books from my local library, and can’t wait to read your other series, as soon as I see that my library has copies!

Keep doing what you do, and ignore the complainers! Until they’ve walked a mile in your shoes, they’re just not going to get it, and it’s not worth accumulating the negative energy they keep trying to send your way!

Sorry people are complaining. You have been up front about your reasoning. Thank you for interacting so closely with your fans. You really take care of us.

People can be first rate jerks. They dont understand or care that this is how you make your living. I dont care to pay a bit more for one of your books. I love your work so to me its not an issue. The people who are complaining probably complain about the cost of a 99cent book. We support you! On a lighter note, even though its in the 90s here in the Appalachian mountains there is a feel of fall. The air just has that smell and the trees are starting to turn. Not much but just enough.

I wasn’t complaining when I asked. I knew they would be more expensive than the ebooks and your usual paperback price, I just never imagined they would be THAT much more. It is, after all, a huge jump in the price. Sorry I pissed you off as that was nowhere near my goal. If I had known it would cause such upset, I wouldn’t have asked. Don’t worry, I won’t ever make that mistake again.

I continue to buy both ebook and paperback versions of your books. I love your new Fury Unbound Series and Flight From Mayhem is amazing. Keep them coming in whatever format you can.

There is definitely an entitlement issue out there. People don’t seem to get that you do not “owe” them paperback books or a certain price. If you can’t cover your costs, you can’t continue to write. I love your books and will buy them for whatever I can get them for in the form that I can get them. I am sure you did not choose for your publisher to change course!

You know it really posses me off that people are complaining about it at all. I am just grateful you chose to go indie and keep your awesomeness coming.
Add that to the fact that you have always kept us up to date and interacted with your fans to the extreme.
Most of us appreciate you deeply.
Please remember you have a huge cheering section that realize you also need to make a living and don’t need to offer paper backs at all.
    Loving Shadow Silence!
Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with me.
Your words help me so much to get my mind off the pain my body is in.

Sorry about the grumpies! I’m just glad we can still get paperbacks. And, of course, glad you’re writing them!
