Caffeine Corner

Welcome to my monthly feature I’m calling Caffeine Corner. Once a month I’ll be posting a little something and giving away a free copy of a book (could be an e-book too—depending on my mood) and a fun mug to one person who comments and is subscribed to my blog.

January is here, and it’s my birthday month. *Laughs* My birthday wish is actually that people will by ALL TEH BOOKS I write. I’m thinking back to all my birthday parties (which, I admit, don’t usually turn out the way I planned so I’ve stopped making any big plans), and I think my favorite has to be a few years back when friends and I went to a burlesque show for my birthday (that was a blast). This year? I’ll be celebrating low-key. And that’s actually fine with me.

So, what has your favorite birthday been? What birthday stands out in your mind as the best?

In your comments please specify whether you are in the US, that you are 18+ and make certain you subscribe to my blog.

I’ll pick one of you to send a backlist copy of one of my books (could be e-format or print) and a mug that you can fill with whatever drink you want while you curl up to read.  Enter by midnight January 4th.

Hi, hi! I’m so beyond 18 I hate saying it! LOL I live in the US and I do subscribe to your blog. I think my favorite birthday is my favorite because it was during a huge transition in my life. I had recently married, moved to Hawaii (military wife), I was thousands of miles from friends and family. My husbands buddies knew I was lonely and I missed my family. So they spent their evening with me and my hubby celebrating with me. It meant so much that these guys took their first day off in a couple weeks and spent it with me to cheer me up. Those guys were some of the best guys (aside from my man of course… ) that I’ve ever known and I miss them. 🙂

I am way over 18 and I too celebrate my birthday in January!!! I was born on the 13th and love it when it falls on Friday as well like it does this year. I have always considered Friday the 13th to be lucky for me! I love all of my birthdays, I really don’t party or do much on them however.

Happy Birthday-Month!!! I am over 18; live in the US and subscribe to the blog.

The birthday that sticks the most in my memory is what I refer to as the “lavender birthday.” I was a freshman in high school and favorite color – you guessed it; lavender. Mother went overboard (hmmm, was she making a point perhaps?) the writing on the cake – lavender; new ear muffs – lavender; umbrella – yes, you got it – lavender; slippers….everything from my family was in the same color. It all went so well in my bedroom….three guesses for the color of my bedroom walls; O_O

I just celebrated my 66th birthday on December 2. Do live in the U.S.A. in the state of Virginia. My favorite birthday is all of them.
Have had ovarian cancer and survived. Then 3 years ago had pneumonia that tried to take me out, but refused to give up. Therapy
and love of family and friends helped to come out and live life.
Happy birthday Yasmine. January is special as my grandson turns four on the 31st.

I am well over 18 and live in the US. My favorite birthday was my 40th because I almost died on my 39th birthday from a perforated ulcer. I spent my 40th at a concert and got to go on stage with Ricky Lynn Gregg.

My favorite birthday was my 30th. My sister and brother-in-law took me out for drinks and dinner. It was a lot of fun.

I’m over 18 and in the US. My birthday is in August so my favorite ones were when I got to go swimming or have a party at the lake. Our first year in Maine (my hubby was in the Navy) we went to the beach. It was fun, but still cold even then lol.

Hello, happy new year. way over 18 and still below 50 and I live in germany.

Most memorable are two birthdays, one in the last year of college. Got into a new class, but was happy to find some real good new friends. Still have the stuffed Marsipulami (an fantasy animal and a comic book created by André Franquin) and the ink calligraphy pen.

As a student I lived a long time in a dormitory and it was the best time of my life, even if the always having fun and nonstop parties all time cliche is over the top. Afterwards we all moved in different towns all over the country. But they met in secrecy, traveled together and arranged a real surprise party.

I think being able to celebrate together with friends and family is the best present and shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Hmm, low key celebrating alone in a new town, … searching for a good café in a public place, laughter in the air and a new/old/unread book of Andre Nortons witchworld, if there aren’t any new ones from you.

    Have fun, Frank

I am definitely over 18 and live in the US. I don’t really have birthday parties, but the last one I did have was extremely memorable. Well, the cake was, that’s for sure. You see, my friend decided that I should have a special cake, one in an interesting shape. I opened the box and looked down, turned beet red. It was in the shape of a penis. And of course she got a picture of me opening the box. LOL!

    Hi Hon,
I am over 18 and I live in the US. My favorite birthday was four years ago. My husband bought a plane ticket for me and my little sister to fly out to our family on the other side of the US. The thing that made it so wonderful is the fact that my sister had not been back there or seen any family member from the time she was 5 years old. We had been put into foster care and all our family had not been together since then. So thirty years later we all got together and got to know each other and our families. It was a very sweet thing my husband had done for me and my sister as well.

I am over 18 and I live in the US. My favorite birthday was last year when I got to spend it with my then boyfriend (now ex). It was the first time that I had ever spent a birthday with a boyfriend and I was really excited and happy. We spent the afternoon together spending the day together since he lived out of state. He surprised me with roses, strawberries, a huge teddy bear and a blanket of his favorite college football team which was the Razorbacks and we were playful rivals since I’m a Bama fan. We went to dinner and went to the movies and watched Deadpool. It was the most fun that I had had in years on my birthday since usually I just sat at home alone watching t.v. It’s a bittersweet memory now since we’re no longer together but it was still one that I really enjoyed and treasured while it lasted.

I’m 18 and live in US. My birthday as a child when I turned 8 it was my first slumber party, I had my 3 best friends over and the theme was strawberry shortcake from the cake to pink balloons and streams the party bags, plus the games when we had the main party next day when family came. Even my presents a new bed spread which I still have 30 yrs later! and sheets to the play figurines dolls I felt so special that weekend it was all about me, and things I loved strawberry shortcake! Long story short the next year my Dad had been layed off for 6month and things where very tight so there wasn’t going to be the big party and hoopla, see my birthday is Dec 11th, lol 2 week before Santa comes. But my awesome parents made my day Brillant anyway I had a cake my mom and I baked together, we played boardgames of my choice, we made tents and slept in the living room that night it was the best. And the gift I received that year was my mom collage ring that i had want forever. Which I wore til I put grew, and I still have that today as well. I know this is long, but honestly the true gifted I received at 9 on my birthday yes the grand parties and presents are nice, but the love and the feeling of being cherised by parents was all I needed. I’ve had wonderful birthdays since, but that 9th birthday is still the best.

I am in the US and over 18. My plans never go as expected either. I guess my favorite was spending it with 6 besties for my favorite dinner that one of the besties cooked.

Happy birthday month! It’s also my birthday month. I’m turning 29! (I also live in the US). I’m also subscribed to the blog, but I’m not getting emails for every post. Maybe there’s some settings I need to fix…..

Anyhow, I think there are two birthdays that stand out for me. The first is my 16th because I had an awesome party where I got to dress like a mermaid in a full length beaded gown. My sister wore the same dress for her sweet sixteen. Our father named us both after mermaids. The second was the year I got married. Within a single month, we have our wedding anniversary, Christmas, New Year’s, his birthday, and my birthday. We call it Anniversabirthmas. Our first Anniversabirthmas, we got married and went to Telluride for a honeymoon.

I’ve had a lot of fun birthdays – well, I’ve had a lot of birthdays. But my 50th was great. My daughters gave me a surprise party, which actually was a surprise. They included my favorite nephew, who flew in from Chicago. He’s a camera buff so I have wonderful pictures to remember it by. My “breakfast club” group was there as well as my granddaughter, who really thought it was up to her to make sure everyone had fun. The girls put the type of candles on the cake that won’t blow out. I blew once, realized what they were and said, “Hey. your problem” and walked away. Got cards from many people I hadn’t seen in years, orchestrated by the girls.

It would have to be my 21st.
EVERYONE including my mom got carded at the 3 places we went except me!
It was hysterical. I could not believe it. At first i was very bummed about it but after watching the older ladies in my group laugh and eat it up it was pretty fun.

I would say my favorite birthday had to be my last one. My children, 13 and 15, cooked breakfast that morning and did the dishes. My husband made my favorite meal, chicken and dumplings and my mother made tiramasu. I love being able to spend time with my family.

I think the one birthday that has been my favorite was when I got to celebrate it as a Mom! I got a card from my daughter; well from my husband (then boyfriend at the time). Lol And to see a Happy Birthday Mommy on there was an amazing feeling. I turned 28. We didn’t have a party or anything. I haven’t had a birthday party for my birthday since I was a kid. Sad but true. Lol Not even when I turned 30. But that’s ok. I never really like to be the center of attention much. Even though I guess I do take a lot of selfies; or so I’ve been told. 🙂 Happy Birthday Yasmine! Have fun and enjoy!! 🙂
