Welcome to Otherworld

Thoughts as I look toward the end of the Otherworld Series:

  1. I’m sorry my readers are going to be so sad, but I’m also gratified they loved the world so much.
  2. I can’t believe I’ve written 20 books in this series (with one to go next year).
  3. I’m so relieved I’m almost done with this series. I’m ready to end it.
  4. I’ll miss the sisters, but I’ve spent 13 years writing this series and I need a massive break.
  5. Maybe someday I’ll revisit it, but not for awhile.
  6. I can’t believe the way the series just grew on its own.
  7. There are a number of things I would have done differently if I had foreseen this series being this long, but hey, too late to do that now.
  8. I started out loving Camille most and I’m ending the series still loving her most. Menolly’s always been my second, and Delilah…well…she and I butted heads the entire way through.
  9. I wish more people would have stayed through the run of the series, but I get it: long, long series can get wearing on readers.
  10. Why did everybody want the characters to have kids? For one thing, Camille had no desire for them and I refuse to make a character breed if she doesn’t want to. And Menolly canNOT get pregnant. And the adventures would stop. No way would I force a pregnant character into action. And afterward? Diapers and baby powder don’t make for urban fantasy. Just…not…nope…
  11. I love how people named their pets after the sisters—someone even named their chickens after them! That tickled me.
  12. I also love seeing the cosplay pictures people took of themselves as the sisters.
  13. Do I have any idea of what the sisters do after Blood Bonds? Yeah, I do. I know them so well by now that I know the basic idea of where they go from here.
  14. I will miss Feddrah-Dahns and Raven Mother. I love them.
  15. Can I ever write a non-convoluted series? I don’t think so.
  16. My favorite books of the series: it changes depending on the day, but Witchling, Demon Mistress, Bone Magic, Courting Darkness, Crimson Veil.
  17. I’m glad that I stuck to my guns when it came to showing Menolly’s sex scenes instead of hiding them—the few readers who had problems with a lesbian couple were far outweighed by those who thanked me for not shying away from it.
  18. I think I’ve done the sisters and their world proud. I just hope I can end it on the right note that resonates for me.
  19. I wonder what this series would have been like if I had an entirely free hand with it from the beginning.
  20. It’s been one hell of a ride with Camille, Menolly, and Delilah.

And one last thought: If you love my Otherworld Series, I think you’ll probably come to love my Wild Hunt Series, as well. I really encourage you to get in on the beginning of a new world of gods, heroines, and fun!

I stumbled upon “Changeling” at a truck stop (a long time ago now, not exactly sure of the year but it had to have been pretty early on after the series began) the cover art caught my interest right away, then I picked it up and read the back, then rushed to buy it. From then on I devoured the series! Even the I read the 2nd book First, and then the 1st one second it wasn’t that bad of a mishap at least!! I really love your books & think you’re an excellent {albeit severely underrated} author!!!

*Though (ugh, typo) and the websites being dumb not letting me delete the old comment to repost it with the correction!

I found Witchling in a second hand book store over 11 years ago. I grabbed the next two immediately and devoured them. I have taken a break from reading them around Autumn Whispers as to wait for the last to be there as I am one of those crazy people who want to read the series to the end. I repurchased the series to have them electronic and am just waiting the day for Blood Bonds to be here. I have enjoyed rereading them over again each time I couldn’t take waiting for the next three book release. Thank you for being fantastic.

i do hope that at some point we get to see them again. And that Smokey gets his kid 😉 also that Delilah gets more than one.

LOL, well, Smoky would have to have a different wife to get a child, so I doubt readers would like that! But Delilah, well, there may be ways for her to have more. 😉

I, too, have been reading from the beginning. I love falling back into the sisters’ world with each new book, and I will miss them. It has amazed me that you have been able to keep such a long series continually fascinating – there are few who are up to the task. There is a short list of authors with whom I greedily devour each new book, and you are one of them.

Thank you for this list! Agreed, kids have no place in this war. Maybe Delilah SOMEday, maybe not. I think the series is wrapping up nicely. 20 Books is a lot! I’ve been your fan through all of it. While I’m sad to see them go, I understand you seeing the sisters story through. I do wish it wasn’t so long in between the Last Books, but it’s none of my business why you choose ( or not choose, if that’s the case) to wrap up the end of Otherworld this way. I’m firmly engaged in the worlds of Fury, Maddie and Ember at this point and they keep me busy. Thank you for being so real with your fans. We love you!

Its bittersweet but I am so grateful you continued on with a goal of finishing the Spirit Seals ARC. I love all the sisters and their friends, family and more. Each book was a complete joy and i am so thrilled you introduced them to your readers. This was the first series I read from you and I fell in love with your world building, intriguing characters and damn good storytelling. So THANK YOU for giving us a series that always grew with each book and gave us characters to fall in love with.

I have read and loved every book in the Otherworld series and it is bittersweet to see it end, but you’ve pulled me in to the new worlds of Fury, Ember and, of course, Maddie, Aegis & Bubba.
You are just a damn good storyteller and I look forward to reading many more of your books.

I will miss the Raven Mother too. There’s something alluring about her twisted…..personality. And i will definitely miss the sisters too , although after reading the latest of the series i am more prepared for it to end. I know the ending will be epic.

It is bittersweet but you’re correct it was time to end. Thank you for finishing the series. I also have them so I can always go back. I personally am looking forward to more Bubba antics. Fury is a lovely series and after reading The Silver Stag, I’m looking forward to the rest of them. Keep them coming.

Sad its ending as this is the series that got me hooked onto your work 🙂 but when I’m not reading any of your other books Ik I’ll be able to revisit the sisters again with the books I have. 🙂 all 18 of them currently and then 20 of them ( once they are all out). Keep doing you mizz Galenorn I’ll forever be a fan and rad your work as long as you keep writing amazing stories.

I’m probably one of the few that rooted for their choices on not having kids. Not just because having kids, the adventure would end but I myself face that ridicule at least once a day. I purposely chose not to have kids because while I’m a great friend and sometimes mom to my cats and hopefully the next pup (our Bogey died a couple weeks ago but he was 19, while I miss him he did have a great life), I am too emotional to for human kids plus I helped raise my sisters, enough is enough. When I entered my 30s over a decade ago, I think Loki and the Goddess’ took pity on me and made it so I can’t have any so there wouldn’t be “accidents” (Had to have a hysterectomy at 34). AND don’t anyone dare feel sorry for me, I believe that there are just some women who are better off fighting battles than having kids and I am definitely one of them.
Also, I feel very privileged to have read the ladies stories, The story may be coming to a close but I am grateful for the privilege to even have found Witchling when I did. I know I have grown right along side of them.
On another note I am also still grateful that you chose to write as an Indie author. Each one of your fantasy series holds a place in my heart. I love the new ones, both Fury and Ember, as much as the Ladies. I see those going a long way too. I very much look forward to anything else because you always suck me in and I stay there till its done or have to leave for a bit.
While we’ll miss Camille, Delilah, and Menolly, I don’t think they’ll go too far from us. I keep telling everyone if you miss, them just pick up one of the books and re-read it. 😉
For you, I know it will be a little harder but I think they’ll still pop up from time to time.

I chose not to have kids–never had the desire. And never regretted it. 🙂 I’m SO happy people are loving the new worlds, too. That’s so important to me, that my readers give them a chance.

I’m glad I had the pleasure to read about these three women, their significant others and the stories they all had to tell. You touch not only on the supernatural but also real life situations with a paranormal twist to them. I have enjoyed this series, but I’m looking forward to all of the other stories you have yet to tell us.

Why I understand the feelings behind The Ladies having children, I don’t understand the expectation. Besides Camille not wanting any & Menolly not being able to have any, they’re in the middle of a war. That’s no place for a babe.

That was always my thought–I’m not making my characters choose between duty and war. You saw what happened with Sharah. She was forced to choose and she chose what she had to.
