Well, I have some news for you and I’m just going to be honest and clear here: Darkness Raging (Feb 2016) will be the last Otherworld book Berkley will be publishing.

I’m not going into the discussion—other than sales for that series are definitely down, and they really want me to focus on the two new series I have coming out (and please, don’t boycott those out of spite—I would really be disappointed if you missed out on what I consider two fun and great new series from me because of this decision. Honestly, it is just a pure business perspective).

I’m really hoping you love the Fly By Night Series, and the Whisper Hollow Series. These can be ongoing series that don’t necessarily need to be read in order, and I’m hoping that you love them as much as you love my other work.

What does this mean for Otherworld?

What this does mean is that I will be finishing the series on my own. I don’t have the dates or details—my agent will be helping me do this so things should run fairly smoothly and in a way, it’s exciting—I’m becoming a hybrid author, which means I’ll retain more control over some of my work. In some ways, this may also be better because if the demand for the work is there, it means I can take the series on into other directions after I wrap up the spirit seals arc.

Meanwhile, as some of you may have intuited from some of my Twitter tweets, I am doing my best to get a YA series going that I’d love to write. Wish me luck in this, because I think it will be one of those that my adult readers may like as well. And in other news, with Berkley’s decision to pull out of Otherworld, I will definitely be focusing on putting up more short pieces/stories on my own.

Even though I am sad about Otherworld, I understand. I am willing to try the other series and will buy Otherworld as you are able to write it on your own. Thank you for your honesty and sharing. May you be blessed in all your endeavors.

I don’t know why they think your books aren’t selling – I buy every one! And love them. Whoever publishes, I’ll keep on buying. Just don’t make them all kindle type books because I am definitely a person who wants a book in her hands that she can read whenever and wherever she wants, whether the power is on or off. 🙂 Hopefully this will give you the ability to be your own person, write at your own pace, etc. Deadlines are not usually good for artists and writers like yourself. They often make you hurry when you should be taking your time to get it right. Anyway, I know this will only go very well for you and look forward to your new series as well as more Otherworld books!

Well, sales have dropped off…people move away from long series after awhile, or they get behind and stop buying them. I’ll do what I can–I cannot promise the format, but will see how things go. 🙂 And I thrive on deadlines…an author can’t make a living just writing to ‘inspiration’…and most of the time, my brain’s too full of words that need put down on paper anyway. LOL

I am also looking forward the your next writing venture. I love the Otherworld series but the two new ones sound very exciting. A YA series would be great, I hope that comes together.

I wish you the best in each of your series (series’??) and I do believe everything will work out. You have an amazing talent and nothing will change that.

Sometimes change can be a good thing, an opportunity to mix things up a bit and breathe new life and ideas into something that was stationary (dang!-that’s not the word I want but my lupus is holding the correct word hostage, sorry!) for a while.

    Take care and be well!

I’m excited to read the two new series as well!! Fingers crossed and good thoughts for both them and the hopeful YA series!!!! I’ll follow the Otherworld series where ever it goes. I want to see the end of the spirit seals. Hopefully you’ll also tie up or expand on somethings. Like Shade’s power loss/heratige.

Thank you for the support! And I have a lot of subplots I want to finish. Some may be in novellas, some in novels–but I’ll get to them!
