NIGHT SHIVERS EXCERPT:

We reached the Barrow before nightfall, running at full speed over the snow. I was almost as fast as the others now—those born full Cambyra Fae. My initiation into the queenship had seen to that. We ran on top of the ice and snow, leaving no tracks, a silent, swift force gliding by as the afternoon lengthened into dusk.

Once I had taken the throne as Queen of the Snow and Ice, I became almost immune to the cold. And those who made their life with me in this realm also remained untouched by the deep chill. But that didn’t mean that a warm hearth wasn’t welcome, even though that warmth was a pale shadow of the fires that I had once known.

This entire first year had been a learning experience, and I was frankly surprised that I had made it through with my sanity. There had been so much to learn—and to unlearn.

Druise, my lady’s maid, was waiting for me, and she bundled me into a bath right away. We ate dinner late as a matter of course, so she had a snack of my favorite cake ready for me and brought the plate in to set on a side table as I gratefully sank into the steaming water.

Even though the cold didn’t bother me much, the heat from the water seeped into my muscles, easing the knots that had built up during the day. The scent of lilac rose to soothe my senses.

“Where are the new members of the Court, Your Majesty? Did they not come back with you?”

Druise scrubbed my back, careful to avoid wetting my hair so I wouldn’t have to dry it before eating. There were so many protocols and rules for decorum that I could barely remember them all. A number of them still grated on me, but I followed them, accepting their presence for what they were: long-standing traditions that I was expected to keep up.

What I love about the series is that you have a strong, fearless, sexy (among other things) heroine yet she still needs to use an epi-pen! It is amazing and puts Ciciley on a totally different relatable level to the readers than ever before.

I love Cicely’s growth thru this series. Learning to shift and fly, taking over the family business, finding Grieve, losing her home and becoming queen. She is such a strong woman to learn from.

I’m Michelle. I live in the US and I’m over the age of 18. I’ve only started this series, so everything is very, very new to me. I love the characters, the various Fae, and the intricate world building. I’m constantly amazed that you’re able to create such great worlds, complete with cultures, mores, and taboos.

I am over 18, and live in Yakima, Wa. I love the way Cicely always comes out on top, she never gives up. When everything seems lost she fights her way back up and never gives in. I love that kind of attitude. Never give up, fight for what you want, what is right and what is yours!! Oh, and the men are smokin HOT!!

Hola! Well over 18, I am an avid fan of The Indigo Court Series. I love that although Fantasy, the characters and their angst are believable. The reader can identify with them. Maybe not personally but due to a local bed one.

I’m well over 18, and have read all of the Indigo books (so far!). I’m looking forward to the Novella to catch up with the queens and their courts. My favorite part is that you include reality into the fantasy. Cicely doesn’t show up knowing everything. She has a learning curve, just like the rest of us. She screws up. She fails. But she doesn’t give up – ever. That’s a lesson to us all. It’s ok to fail, to fall; what’s important is that you get back up and try again. That’s a common thread in all of your your novels.

My favorite thing about the Indigo Court series was how much the characters grew with each story and learning about new fae as well as how dark the series was vs the otherworld series.

Hi, It’s Ginny, over 18 and in the US.
Funny you should ask because I was so sure I wouldn’t like the series because I am such a D’Artigo sisters fan. I love the Indigo Court series and have read them all! What I love best is the fact that Cicely and Rhiannon are close cousins. The series has allowed me to watch them grow, including finding their loves, their weddings and becoming queens. Their closeness has always come into play in their decisions and they are still close even though they reign over opposite kingdoms. They work at keeping traditions while making subtle changes and there is so much action!

I think what I like best about them is that you see the hardships and sacrifices behind the thrones. Yes, many little girls grow up wanting to be a princess or queen, but that is the fairy tale view. These books so the losses, the sacrifices and the realism of wearing the mantle of leadership entails. The sad truth of being at the top is the buck stops with you. Good or bad. We see the relationships grow and wither. We see the celebrations and the mourning. Despite the fantasy aspect, reality is there. Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Its real. Lynn G. Florida, USA. My name is Jami, I hope I’m over 18 as my youngest child is 30! I live in the U.S. I think I like best that good triumphs over evil, it doesn’t always in real life. The women are strong as are the men. No weaklings of character or body in your world.
Love of long ago is re found and thrives through adversity as I feel has been mine and my hubby’s past/preset/future.

I’m Charlie, over 18 and live in the US. I like the way so many different kinds of races can work together and individuals of great differences can put those differences aside enough to do what needs to be done. I also like that you do not skirt the difficult aspects of your character’s lives.

Over 18, in the US. I just like getting lost in another world. This is a world I think about even when I am not reading. If I want to be Menolly, I can be Menolly. But if I feel particularly witchy, I can choose to be Camille. Or any other variation.

I am over 18 and live in the US. The Indigo Court series is a great series that I believe promotes women power. It is a story of destiny and strong women who survive a lot to thrive in unexpected ways. It shows women with insecurities and vulnerabilities and how they overcome them to become women of power and how true friends stand by them and help them to find their true selves. It includes a story of true love that survives and endures but continues. They are great stories that are written well.

I loved the Indigo Court series for many reasons. You developed the characters beautifully. It was very fun learning about the different kinds of magic available to each person. I loved the idea that a reincarnated couple could fix their previous mistakes or even just try again to obtain their happy life. I was sad when it ended and am quite excited that you are releasing this short and hope that you do continue to write in this world. If you do I will definitely enjoy revisiting.

My name is Cindy and I am over 18, I live in Utah. There are many things I like about the Indigo Court series. The series was so well written I was able to lose myself in the story and was able to watch things happening in my minds eye!!! It showed that a woman can do anything they set their minds to and with the love of a good man and overcome any obstacle.

The thing I love about this series just like your other series is the strong female characters. All of the females know what they want and go for it. This along with the love story and action make this series along with all of the attention to detail makes the story seem real. I am 36 and inside the US.

The thing I love most is the themes of love and family written throughout the series. Cicely and Grieve remind me of what true love can do even in the darkest of times. The relationship between Rhiannon and Cicely also reminds me of how your best friend can be your closest family member like my mom is to me. I am 27 living in the U.S.

Greetings! I’m Lori, live in the USA, and am over 18. What do I like best? To be honest it’s the same thing that I love about your other series, and that is your attention to detail. You are so very precise and in depth with your details that you create worlds that are absolutely believable. I get so lost when reading that I don’t stop for hours, and I look up and can’t believe it’s sunny out because I was just in night! You make me cold in winter. That, to me, says you are a truly talented author.

Hi there! I’m Melissa, I’m in the US and I’m 46. There’s so much to like about the Indigo Court series! I like learning about the new Fae ( Cambyra, Wilding, Vampiric), love watching both Queens grow in their power and confidence, watching them finally be with their true loves (love conquers all). The story is excellent especially since they still continue their friendships on the outside and they remember those they lost.
