It has come to our attention the past couple of days that the WordPress-friendly plugin we used for blog subscriptions was bought by another company about a year ago. We did not know this. This new company (legally) used it to obtain email addresses that previously remained only with us.

We’ve removed this plug in and installed one that doesn’t do that. We do our best NOT to allow things like this to happen, and we never would deliberately sell or give out your email addresses. I don’t like getting spam–or anything I consider spam. I know YOU don’t like getting it. And I really dislike people getting emails referencing me or my website as though we approved/initiated it.

I am NOT talking about the Daily Digest. This is the digest you receive when you sign up that tells you when I have posted new blogs.

No, I’m talking about any email that does not appear to be directly from my site–some of these emails urge you to ‘go vote’ for my site. I am NOT running in any contest or anything and was taken by surprise when someone asked about it.

I apologize–I did not have a clue that the plugin got bought up by somebody else, or that they were able to access the email addresses. As I said, it’s a legal maneuver, but I don’t appreciate what happened and I’m sorry that some of you may have been getting emails I in NO manner initiated.

Also, be aware that my monthly newsletter is through a separate company and the owner keeps a close eye on the lists and they were not part of this in any way. The blog subscription is a totally separate matter.

🙁

Thank you for the heads up, but hadn’t *knock on wood* received any suspicious e-mails.

Question for anyone who has a moment to answer: Having said that, is there a place to re-subscribe to the blog? I thought I was subscribed, but haven’t been receiving notifications. I could have hit a wrong button on my end.

We’re working on it and hope to have notifications going out again next week. If you’re subscribed already, I still have your addy so no worries about resubscribing–at least at the moment.

I haven’t seen any unusual emails lately, but thanks for the heads up. I put unwanted senders in my junk folder and make sure they are on my blocked list. That usually take care of them.

I am not aware of receiving any spam due to this. If I don’t know what something is/where it came from I just trash it without opening.
    Thanks for the heads up
    Have a great day

No blame from me. I just make sure I unsubscribe from whoever or not open and toss in the trash.

Ah. So that’s where all the spam in my inbox came from. ;p No worries! That’s why one can delete rubbish, after all.
