Announcements JPG

It has been a long past couple of years. More downs than ups, but I have finally made several decisions that I think are the right ones for me. I have been a traditionally published author for twenty years this month, and I’ve seen an amazing number of changes come and go as the industry has crumbled, evolved, and changed.

I’ve reached the point where my career must change with it — either that or it will become something I don’t want it to be.

So I’m both nervous and excited to announce a shift in direction. I will be going mostly indie as an author. My current publisher is changing directions, and looking for genres of work that I don’t write. And I really don’t want to shift what I love to write in order to  stay there. I love paranormal and I love writing series, and so I have decided to strike out on my own.

So, Yasmine, you ask. What does this mean?

Well, it means I can write what I want, I can write more books, and I can make them available sooner. Best of all, I will be able to continue Whisper Hollow and Fly By Night and Otherworld (because right now, I can’t do that with Berkley).  I can continue to write about the characters I love, and I can write short or long depending on what the story requires. It also means that — for my e-book readers — prices will be more affordable on the books that I self-publish.

So, I am committing myself to continuing the Whisper Hollow series on my own after SHADOW SILENCE comes out. I hope to write at least three more books in that series. I will be writing the new Fury Unbound series and I plan at least six books in that series. I am committing to write at least three more books in the Fly By Night series. I will also be writing various short stories, novellas, etc., as I decide, and eventually–I have other ideas for new books/new worlds that I hope to write. It will take a little time to figure out my schedule, so please bear with me.

In addition, the last three Otherworld series books are coming from Diversion Publishing in 2017, 2018, and 2019. And the Lily Bound Series — starting with SOULJACKER in 2017 — will also be coming from Diversion.

So, Yasmine, where will we be able to get these books?

Well, here’s the thing. The books will be fully available in e- book for most formats including Kindle, nook, kobo, and iTunes. This is the best way to start reading me and I know some of you are not happy about this, but it is simply the way things are going. Trust me, I love reading print books but I am teaching myself how to read e-books and I am thoroughly enjoying the lower price point. I think this will serve both my readers and me much better, because as an indie, I earn more per sale even as my readers get to enjoy the books for a lower price. E-books are just as real as print, the story is all there.

For those of you who love print, though, we will make them available in paperback format, however the paperbacks will be trade size — the only size available as an option — and they will be at a significantly higher price point than my mass-market paperbacks. There’s no option on either one of these facts. You will most likely NOT be able to find them in stores so the BEST way to know when my books are available is to sign up for my newsletter and actually read it when it comes out. 😉

I will do my best to make the books available in audio as well but the audio will take extra time, however to figure out and set up, so don’t hold your breath. We’ll do what we can as fast as we can without compromising quality or our sleep.

One of the important things to remember is that everything evolves and changes, and it is vital to be able to change and be flexible. Every industry on this planet has shifted in one way or another over the years, so publishing is no different than any other business. I have enjoyed my time at Berkley, and I really appreciate my editor there — Kate Seaver — but the fact is Berkley and I are going into different directions this point. I am very grateful to my agent, Meredith Bernstein, who has had and still has my back. If a good deal came up with another traditional publisher, I would probably take it but I am committed to my indie career as well. Unless I feel that I have found the right niche, I’m on a new adventure. One that I hope my readers will happily embark on with me.

Bright blessings,
Yasmine Galenorn

I enjoy reading on my kindle, I am a big fan of print books and own all the Otherworld series and Indigo Court series in that form, I find I can reader better and faster with my kindle. My eyes do not focus well enough for a book anymore. That all being said, I am really excited about this move for you, not only will if give you a little freedom to write your books but I think it has a potential to give you more exposure. I read a number of Indie authors and follow them on their journeys through social media. I love their work and do not mind that most of their books are shorter because they are jam packed with greatness!! Good Luck Yasmine, I for one will follow you wherever you end up.

Good for you, Yasmine! I love all your books and have been with almost every one of your series from their beginnings. You are by far my favorite author!! I do have a question though. Will Cassandra Campbell be doing the audiobooks for the last 3 other world novels? Please say yes!! My husband is dyslexic & follows your books with me via audiobook. We would love to have the complete series in that format too!!! Keep up the amazing work.

Well, I can say I’m sticking around. I enjoy all your books way too much to just drop it because they’re e-books. I’ve been reading more e-books recently, have all of your novellas and short story collections, so it’s nothing new to me. So, can’t wait to see what’s next in the worlds I’ve been frequenting.

You are the author…it’s your decision to continue to write what feeds your soul, not to mention ours! We will follow you. I’ll be taking the POD option when it’s offered but will settle for e reading, if necessary.
Best of god fortune to you!

I started reading your books from my library, and continued after that in ebook form mostly. I’m happy to continue reading them in ebook form and look forward to the new series you’ve started as well. 🙂 Do what is best for you, and we fans will follow.
