question mark

First, to all my Texas readers—I hope you’re out of the path of Harvey’s destruction and flooding. Stay safe. Second: time to answer reader questions again! This time, we have quite a few so I’ll be answering some of them later on in another post.

Q: Will we ever see or hear from Fata in the Bewitching Bedlam series? Aside from the novella that’s coming later on?

A: Oh yes, definitely. And it won’t be too long. Tiger Tails is about Sandy, but during Witches Wild, you’ll get to know Fata Morgana!

Q: What happened to Rodney from the Otherworld Series?

Q: Also, what happened to Carter from the Otherworld series?

A: Unfortunately, with a cast of thousands, I can only cover so many of them in each book. Trust me, Rodney’s around and probably trying to hit up some of the Fae out in Talamh Lonrach Oll now that Camille and her husbands live there. And Carter is doing what Carter always does, watching the demonic activity in Seattle. 😉

Q: How do you decide what type of book you will write next?

A: Now that I’m an indie author, I am writing more, and I’m trying to integrate them so that you don’t have to wait for too long before the next one in a series comes out for my new, indie series. So I go through the year, pencil out tentative release dates, and then figure out the order from there. There’s a lot of planning that goes into what I release and when—it’s never just ‘what I feel like at the moment.’

Q: Is there anything specific that is the basis behind Fury’s world and Maddie’s? I love both ladies and how they are both so kick ass. Thank you for your glimpses of these worlds.

A: Fury’s world was based on several things: one, I’ve always wanted to try my hand at dystopian/post-apocalyptic. Two: in a very real way, Fury’s world is based on what I’ve seen happening over the years as the corporations and lobbyists influence the government more and more. It’s also, in a way, my hopes for the world to right itself with the issues of climate change and global warming.

As far as Maddy’s world, it first started with BLOOD MUSIC. I had agreed to write a short for an anthology—and I planned on writing a dark, brooding, steamy vampire novella. Well, what came out of my keyboard wasn’t any dark romance but Maddy and Aegis. As I wrote the novella, I knew before the first page was done that I had to write a series about Maddy.

As to Maddy and Bedlam, the ideas came from listening to several versions of the old folk song, “Boys of Bedlam”/ “Mad Tom of Bedlam”…the line, “Mad Maudlin goes on dirty toes, to save her shoes from gravel,” has always struck me. And I began to play with the thought of, what if Maudlin was a witch and still alive today…and what if Bedlam was actually a town…

I also realized that I wanted to write something lighter but not ‘fluffy’…fun and totally magical and a little bit steamy and with some darker overtones but where each book could be read on its own instead of having a mega overwhelming story arc like Otherworld.

The idea for Bubba, the cjinn, came from one night when Brighid wanted her belly rubbed and, as I was rubbing her tummy, I jokingly told Sam, “What if Brighid’s belly was like a djinn’s bottle—rub her belly and get a wish?” And in that moment, the idea for Bubba was born.

Q: How do you pronounce cjinn? Is it like djinn/jinn? And are they essentially the same, but a cjinn is in animal form?

A: You pronounce it kuh-jinn.  And yes, it’s my creation—djinns in cat form. They aren’t shifters, the cat form is their natural shape.

Q: Will we visit the winter & summer courts in the Bedlam series?

A: I have no plans for that, but you will during my new series I’m starting (along with continuing Maddy’s) next year: The Wild Hunt Series.

    Hi Yasmine
First of all I have to say I absolutely love all your books and your characters. I was wondering if you will still be releasing Crow Song as it is listed on the last pages of Maudlin’s Mayhem but I see now that the Whisper Hollow is listed as discontinued?

Unfortunately (and I do mean that, I LOVE Whisper Hollow), for now I have to put the series on hiatus. I’m hoping someday to be able to pick it up again, so yeah though I thought I’d be able to write it, for now I really can’t and make it a viable series to work with.
