All Things Witchy Cute Witch

FA LA LA LA LA, LA LA—wait! Wrong season!
But it’s still holiday season—it’s the Witching Season!

‘Tis the season for spooky movies, Boo boo boo boo boo, boo boo boo BOO
Grab some popcorn and some cookies, Boo boo boo boo boo, boo boo boo BOO
Curl with a cat in a cozy blanket, Boo boo boo boo boo, boo boo boo BOO
As the vampire opens the casket, Boo boo boo boo boo, boo boo boo…BOO….”

Okay, okay, I’ll stop. But it’s that time of year again—SPOOKY MOVIE TIME! The time when we remind ourselves of life by peeking through the Veil at what might just be hiding on the other side. When we reaffirm the balance by acknowledging the Shadow side of the self—and of life.

Every year, I have a list of DVDs that I plunder out of my DVD cabinet to watch while I work. I watch them all through the month, rationing myself by interspersing them with episodes of Dark Shadows (I own the entire series and started it a couple years ago. I’m now a bit over halfway through. There are 1225 episodes, 131 discs, and I’m on disk 75 now).

I’m not into gratuitous gore or slasher flicks, but I have a massive list (see below). So, what are your fave ooo-spooky movies?

I like the old ones, too. My fave there is The Mummy with Boris Karloff. Nobody does creepy quite like him. The Woman in White is a really good one, The Haunting of Hill House (original version please). I am hoping to see the new version of It. I hear it’s a good one! Happy holiday!

I grew up with the original black & white ones so they’re classics to me. The Halloween series, gotta have some Michael Meyers. I like Hotel Hell, Dr. Giggles, The Tooth Fairy, Aliens, Bats, & Event Horizon is one of my favorites.

My favorites will always be the classics, of course, but lately I’ve been on 70s-80s ish kick. The Thing and the Howling movies are what I’m watching now! I love spooky month because nobody argues with me when I pick a scary movie for every single movie night!

I really love the old black & white movies – Dracula (Bela Lugosi), Frankenstein (Boris Karloff), Mummy, Wolfman (may not be right name) with Lon Chaney, Fall of the House of Usher (Vincent Price). You get the idea. Movies from the 20s & 30s.

I love the really old ones – Dracula with Bela Lugosi for example. Like you, old Vincent Price movies – wasn’t his voice the best! The old Frankenstein and old Mummy movies.
