Stay Inspired!

Hi and welcome to Inspiration Corner. I want to talk about monthly goals on a personal level. I’m not talking about work goals, and I’m not talking about things that you need to do anyway. What I’m talking about is personal growth. Do you set aside a period of time at the end of every month to plan out what you want to learn/do for the next month? And each week, do you schedule a meeting with yourself to ask, “Am I making headway on this? How do I need to adjust my actions/thought processes?”

For example, this month my main goals are to:

  1. Stay in my own lane and mind my own business
  2. Stay out of the drama parade.

This means I’m focusing on: no longer handing out unasked for advice, keeping my focus on my own life and my own growth, and staying out of others’ dramas.

I am too quick to try to dive in and offer advice without being asked (and yes, I realize the irony of writing Inspiration Corner while I’m backing off giving advice, but I consider this something quite different…I’m not waltzing into your kitchen telling you what you should eat for breakfast, wear for your date, etc.). I need to remember that my friends (and strangers) need to learn their own lessons. I’m focusing on my own life and my own growth, and at times that can point out uncomfortable facts about myself. So it’s easy to stick my nose in somebody else’s life and tell them what I think they should do, rather than focus on refining my own life and actions. So—done with that. I focus on my life. My actions. My lane.

As far as drama, I’m just tired of it. I’m SO over melodrama, drama queens, people that thrive on drama, people that cultivate drama to get attention.

Drama sucks energy out of your life, and if you choose (and it IS a choice) to associate with drama-addicts, you allow them to siphon away your energy.

So I’m shutting down the drama parade every time I see it trying to sneak into my life. I don’t want to hear about it. I don’t want to waste my energy on it. So I’m no longer going to listen and when people start moaning on and on, I’m going to just say, “Sorry, I really don’t want to get involved.”

So, tell me, what are your goals for August?  In the comments tell me what your goals for this month are. And if you haven’t thought of any, there’s still time! We have two thirds of the month left. So start now, don’t wait for September. Even if you just pick a tiny goal, choose something to go after that will make your life better.

Until next time, bright blessings!

My goal for August is to clean out and fix up my designated “library” room. This will definitely keep me busy for the rest of the month! Not because it’s a large room (it’s nice and small), it just has accumulated a rather huge pile of junk in the center of the room that has spread to the four corners! Wish me luck!

Clarity certainly helps the thought process for most people!

I don’t really have monthly goals like that. I just keep consistent goals where I’m trying to make myself better over time and each month I look back and see if I did well on it. My main goal at the moment is just letting things go. Difficult for me with OCD, but I work hard on it. I make my list of things that happened in a month and check if I managed to let this situation, frustration, and so on that happened in the month go. So yeah, that’s my main thing.

No, but self-care is so important. 🙂

I have much the same goals. I am always jumping in with advice. Thanks for reminding me that I don’t want to get into their drama. Not my circus, not my monkeys.

I LOVE that phrase. I use it quite often to remind me to keep my nose out of business that’s not mine to poke into.
