Hello everyone it’s Jennifer. It is Back to School time again and Yasmine invited me to do a blog post about it.
I know that there are a lot of parents out there that are happy school time is here again, but also that there are some out there that are sad to be sending their little ones for the first time as well. To the parents of the ones just starting school I’d like to say it does get easier to send them off to school I promise.
One of the most stressful things about the start of school is school supplies. Parents of middle and high schoolers don’t find out until the first or second day of school, and then when the second semester starts sometimes they switch teachers and have another list at that time. Keeping a stash of school supplies bought throughout the year can lessen this headache a lot.
Here are some of my recommendations to keep stashed away:
- Pens (blue, black, and red)
- Notebook paper (always good to have several on hand just in case)
- Spirals ( I try to keep three or four of these on hand)
- Composition notebooks
- Colored pencils
- Markers (which can come in handy for those school projects)
- Index cards
If your child is in elementary you can do this too. I recommend looking at the lists for the years your child will be going to in the future. When looking at the lists make a note of what the common supplies are for every year (i.e. crayons) and buying those for your stash.
For school clothes I like to hit some sales, such as the winter clothes sales at the start of spring. When my daughter was younger I’d always buy the clothes bigger to account for growth spurts. The clothes will then get put to the side until it is the season for them. This keeps her wardrobe updated without costing an arm and a leg.
I hope all the parents and kids out there have a terrific school year this year!
