Monster hand holding movie ticket.

So every year during October I talk about my favorite ooo-spooky movies. I have a selection of movies that I watch every year, give or take a few, during this month. It’s a very heavy movie month for me, obviously! They’re some of my favorite horror movies, suspense movies, and just plain spooky movies. I have a long list, and it grows longer every year, but here it is for those of you who might be looking for some great October movies.

And let’s hear what your favorites are in the comments below!

My very favorite movies, that I watch every year without fail:
Something Wicked This Way Comes
The Halloween Tree
Sleepy Hollow (the Johnny Depp version)
It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Room 1408
Event Horizon
The Mummy (the Brendan Fraser version)
Dracula (the Gary Oldman version)
The Skeleton Key
Hotel Transylvania (all the movies)
Queen of the Damned

Movies that I tend to watch every year, although sometimes I skip a year or two:
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark
Beetlejuice
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane
We Are the Night
The Amityville Horror
Poltergeist
The Woman in White
The Haunting
The Innocents The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
The Birds
House On Haunted Hill
What Lies Beneath
The Shining (the miniseries)
The Awakening
The Haunting in Connecticut
Secret Window
The Thing
The Thing, the prequel
And old Vincent Price movies like The Raven, The Pit & the Pendulum, and all sorts of fun goodies.

You want scary ? Look up No One Lives . That right there will have you hollering. It reminded me at one point of some Dr Giggles. Which is one of my all time favorite. It’s old but crazy as hell. I like the scarier the better. Have you saw Trick or Treat?

Anything Tim Burton. I love his films, even when they’re more cutesy. Also, some animes. Right now I’m working my way through Tokyo Ghoul: Re. Got the final part of that. Just finished King’s Game, that was twisted.

I love so many spooky movies. I try to get in a lot of the old black and white films ~ Nosferatu, anything Vincent Price and Bela Legosi.
Modern ones I love are the Shining, Salem’s Lot, Dracula, Children of the Corn, all of the Hotel Transylvania flicks,Zombieland, It Follows… I’m sure I’m leaving out a few, but those are the main ones.
    Blessed Samhain to all!

I watch a lot of spooky movies too, though this year with the Halloween store it’s a little less, probably about 1.5 a day depending on how tired I am. I love all the ones on your list and I’d add a few extra horror on there too.

Charlie Brown is a tradition with me too. I’ve also added Maleficent (sp). The Depp version of Sleepy Hollow as well as Oldman’s version of Dracula have more depth so are favorites too.

My husband grew up about an hour from Sleepy Hollow so I made him take a trip with me while we were visiting my inlaws a few years ago. Very cool place. I wandered around the cemetery and saw Washington Irving’s grave.

Black Sunday is an all time focus but I too add new movies and series to my list. Netflix and YouTube are life savers.
