I am so tired of sunlight. I’ll be so happy when autumn fully kicks in. Summer’s on the wane, I can tell. The days are shorter, the nights are cooler, the sun–even on sunny days–isn’t as hot. So I watch the season pass and wait for my favorite time of the year. Sunlight and heat can trigger reactions for me, so when the clouds come in and the days cool down, I’m so relieved.

I’m starting work on the Blood Queen series this week–on the first book, BLOOD ROSES. Someone asked me what my inspiration for the series was, and frankly, I can’t give you a good answer. I just…had a flash of inspiration and it stayed with me, and here I am, about to write the first book. For me, writing’s like that a lot. A flash of inspiration, a whisper of words, an image from a dream…and somehow it wriggles its way into my subconscious and sometime later, boom…I have the idea for a new series, a new book.

I’ve been rewatching Desperate Housewives over the past few weeks. I’m up to season 8 and into it, and A) I realize how much I love this show, B) My likes/dislikes of characters has changed over the years to a degree, C) I really loved the writing back when it first came on and I still love the writing now.

Otherwise, life is moving. It’s odd how, though my life hasn’t changed a whole lot due to the pandemic, everything has changed. So tell me, how’s your week shaping up? What are you up to?

Sunlight and heat give me bad headaches. Sometimes migraines. Unfortunately we have a lot of both here. I went to the beach 3 weeks ago and the few times the sun came out that day were enough to give me hives for a day or so.

It was my 8 year olds face to face week at school. That went well. I have just been trying to keep up with housework and my 2 year old. Transfered tons of embroidery floss to bobbins. That was a real pain.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading and having fun with my own creative activities. I’ve recently started to do a little exercise so my muscles don’t completely atrophy while at home, avoiding crowds.

I absolutely loved Autumn’s Bane! I can’t wait for Raven’s next book and then for the new series! Is the Blood Queen series going to be a little more darker and heavier, like the Night Court series? I just kind of get a feeling that way.

Autumn’s Bane totally rocked!! I love the YouTube video on your writing process. I hope you read a short story again. Magic & Tarot videos are great also. Looking forward to Raven’s next book.

The Blood Queens series sounds interesting. The covers are beautiful.

Work is hectic. But what can you do?

    Be well.

I’m a retired teacher serving on an Area ( consisting of 2 counties) board which means instead of attending meetings, I’m attending webinars and Zoom meetings. My sister-in-law is repainting all the rooms in her house and having her kitchen remodeled. My brother died in December ( A Vietnam vet with PTSD) and there are too many reminders. So I helped her one day clean out part of a garage to store items from the house during the work. Today we ate lunch in her backyard and then we talked about the colors she wants in each room.
I’ve also been knitting up a storm making diddle muffs, scarves, and lap robes.
Of course I’m reading every chance that I get and playing with my senior cat Pierre.
I’ve been having to walk inside due to all the smoke from the fires in CA. but am still able to get at least 10,000 steps a day.
I usually end the day with my online Pilates class and some light weight lifting.
The one thing that I most miss is getting together with friends for lunch. At least there is the telephone and zoom.
