What are your favorite holiday goodies? What do you love to munch on during the holiday season, from Thanksgiving on? Pumpkin pie? Peppermint brownies? Turkey? Stuffing?

For me, it’s pumpkin pie, peppermint mochas, peppermint chocolate fudge, and turkey soup. I can make all those dairy and nut free–and even sugar free for the mocha. I do MISS a couple of my favorites: gingerbread, stuffing (I made a great stuffing but it’s not quite as good made from gluten free breads that I’ve had).

So what do you love this time of year?

Homemade chocolate cream pie and homemade walnut toffee are my two faves!
I love to give consumable gifts and treats so cooking some magic into treats makes them extra special.

I love German lebkuchen. I also love cranberry-orange relish. One of my favorites that I don’t make much anymore is icebox fruitcake. This was always around our home as we came up on Christmas. It is very rich though, and so, I only make it once in awhile. For drinks- I try to have some eggnog during the season, but otherwise, no real difference than normal.

Ham Roll Ups, Green Bean Casserole, Apple Strudel…oh we have this pie place by us and they make this raspberry crumble pie but they’re expensive so we usually only get one on holidays or special occasions.

Every Christmas my Aunt made Scotcheros( peanut butter rice crispies topped with chocolate butterscotch )and Chocolate covered Ritz with home made peanut butter,. I wish I had asked for her recipe now she is gone, and the recipes I get on-line don’t taste the same.

For Christmas dinner it would be turkey with cranberries and stuffing. My favorite sweets are homemade shortbread cookies and hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Hm… My family always makes a corned beef for Christmas. This year it’s my turn to make Christmas dinner and we’re having that. Otherwise, treats… Pumpkin cookies and peppermint sugar cookies. I don’t make them often, but do around this time of year.

I love pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving and any type of fudge at Christmas. Alas, I have had neither in forever. I am a 50 year old who doesn’t cook or bake & they are too expensive for my fixed income. But the memories are WONDERFUL!!!
