Woman wandering through birch/alder forest.

It’s only Wednesday and it’s been a week.

First, I’m going to have to put the YouTube videos on hold for a bit. I’m tired, behind on my writing, and have too many things going. I’ve pulled back from Twitter, I’ve let Jennifer take the helm at the Facebook group more and more, and now I just need some time to calmly finish this book, start the next one, and deal with daily life.

In other words: I’m a little overwhelmed. Plus, being on the elimination diet has frayed my good nature a little, BUT…and this is a BIG but…it is definitely helping me feel better and have less intense reactions and so I’m sticking with it as much as I can with a few minor exceptions.

So, what’s going on? Well, Morgana is sick. She should get better–but it’s going to take some recuperation. We noticed she’s been losing weight for awhile but she was a mega chunky kitty and she was more active and so we thought it was just coming off normally. Her blood work looked good, but behind the scenes, her thyroid was starting to cut out. So fast forward to April. Blood work was still good, but we forgot to have her thyroid checked. She was eleven pounds, which was starting to worry me. Then, the past two weeks, she became more hyper than ever, and then suddenly lethargic. I was able to pick her up (almost unheard of–she does NOT like being picked up) and she was far too light. My first thought: thyroid condition. Long ago, our Keeter developed hyperthyroidism and we missed her losing weight because of the long fur. But we caught it and she was put on the transdermal ear gel and it helped her. But she was older.

Morgan’s twelve–barely. And our kitties generally live a long time. So while she’s going on the ear gel, because I know I can’t pill her, we’re also talking to the vet about the radioiodine treatment that’s a permanent fix. He’s setting things in motion for that. Meanwhile, she’s one of the smaller percentage of cats who lost her appetite with this, rather than became a glutton, and so I’m pumping a vitamin supplement (high calorie) down her little throat until the medication takes effect and she starts eating again.

So yeah, stressful here. Our cats are our kids (regardless of what anybody ever thinks about that statement, when you feel that connected to them, it’s true). They’re our babies and it’s frightening and hurts when you see them hurting and sick. So I’ll be very happy when the medication kicks in and we’re able to stop worrying.

So yeah, I need to go easy on myself and the writing is the most important, so that’s what I’m doing. And here’s a picture of our Morgan, in plumper days.

I hope that everything works out for your fur baby. They’re just as much a part of the family as human children. Do what you need to do to stay relatively calm. Our babies come first.

From our kitty girl who was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last year (and you kindly reminded me to use gloves with the transdermal ear gel) to Morgana, you and Samwise, and the rest of your household: many purrs.

I hope you are able to continue letting some of your tasks go so you can do the things only you can do. We both know it’s not easy. We both know it’s worth the effort, too.

Take care of you and Morgan. That is most important. Thoughts and prayers with you.
Be well. Whenever your books come out they are a gift.

    Blessings

Praying that Morgana takes the treatments well and gets better soon (as much as she can with what she has) and that you have a better rest of the week. Take your time on the writing. We would much rather you be late with a release than have you sick.
