Andria and I were talking the other day and we both came to the same conclusion: we had a long, cold spring and now it’s summer. We’re getting temps in the high 70s and mid 80s, and next week, high 80s. And both of us are already ready for autumn.

I’m not sure what it is this year, but I’d happily skip summer and decorate for autumn tomorrow. I’m not a summer person anyway, but this year, it just feels…out of step to me. I was surprised to hear Andria say much the same. I think that autumn feels comforting and cushioning to me, unlike summer which always feels harsh and too bright.

Anyway yeah, I’m dreaming of the brilliant colors of autumn, and of the cool smell of petrichor–that earthy scent of water on the soil on a cool misty morning.

What about you? Are you happy it’s summer? What are you up to? Or are you ready for the autumn like I am?

I love the fall the changing colors assure me that our world still lives and changes just like us. Yes I love the fall decorations and making our home ready for family and friends to come in and sit a spell as we hillbillies say

I’m Team Autumn! Hoodies and the smell of burning leaves. Cool fall evenings by the fire pit. Love it, )0(

Autumn here in NC has felt a lot like Summer for the past few years! My Mama and I were discussing how crazy the changing weather has been just yesterday. We used to have 4 lovely seasons, now we go from chilly winter sogginess (don’t see much by way of snow) to soggy Pseudo-Spring, full on into the Summer heat and humidity, then back to chilly sogginess sometime in late November. Madness.

That said, Autumn was my favorite season for years, before I developed SAD and skin issues. Now I live for the heat. I also do a fair amount of herb and vegetable gardening, so it’s always depressing for me when Autumn rolls around and reminds me the growing season is coming to an end. I do love the Autumn decorations and Sabbats, though.

I’ve always loved summer for the sunshine but it’s getting hotter and hotter each year and I can’t handle hot like I used to. But I also like Autumn because I love to decorate for the holidays.

I am definitely an autumn person. I think it has to do with my birthday being in October.
I love the crisp air and the smell of raked leaves.
Everything seems to have a sharp edge while getting ready for that blanket of snow.
And I sure do hope we get some snow this year. The last 5 years has been less than usual.
If you’re on a well, the snowfall and rain during the rest of the year are critical.

I am not a summer person. In Tulsa,OK today it was 107. I love spring and fall! And I love the cold bracing feel of winter. I love the cool blues, light greens of spring; the golds, bronzes, and burgundy of fall. Winter brings evergreens, silvers, ice whites and greys of winter.

I’m a summer lover. My joints don’t hurt as much and my psoriasis clears up some and that’s a big plus for me. As soon as the weather becomes cooler, my skin starts up with scales and itching. My joints let me know they are not happy. So, I’m a summer lover. I live in southern Tennessee and would move to southern Florida if I could, just so I would have warm weather all year long.

I don’t mind early fall when it’s a little cooler but I’m a spring and summer person. I love the sunshine and the warmth. I love seeing all the flowers and trees bloom. Everything is alive! I don’t like late fall or winter. All the colors go away and everything is blah, cold, and depressing. I’m enjoying every day of summer that I can.

I agree Melissa! I will take summer any day over those painful winter days. Yes, you heard me right. Painful because I have several “ailments” that keep me in my recliner every day of the year. Yep, I’m handicapped and “gitten on in my years” as my Grandma Nora would say.
Now, Melissa, honey we have to stick together and pronounce Spring and Summer as truly God-given blessings for those of us in pain on a daily basis.
      God Bless!

I, too, am ready for autumn! I can skip the heat, and go right to wind blowing the leaves around, and the cool crispness of the air in the morning and in the evening. It makes me feel more alive! When the breeze is blowing the clouds along as it gets dark at night, with a big ole moon starting to shine, it seems like anything is possible!

When I was younger, I loved Summer. A lot of it had to do with getting out of school. We would also spend a lot of time at my Grandma’s house. I got to play with my cousins. Grandma lived in the country so we had lots of room to run around and be hooligans. Now as I’ve gotten older, I prefer the cooler temps of Autumn. Of course my cousins are all grown as well, and we aren’t able to get together as much anymore.
My birthday is also in Summer. This month actually (the 30th). But Halloween is in Autumn…so there’s that .
They’re saying that Saturday will be 99 degrees.
