Happy September!
Here’s hoping your autumn is glorious and that this burnt orange season brings joy to your heart. (Yes, I know some people prefer summer, and each person has their fave season—but for me, autumn makes my heart sing. It makes me wake up and feel like life is moving again).
To me the beginning of September is the actual beginning of the holiday season. We have Mabon coming up, Samhain, Thanksgiving, and Yule. And during the month of December, Sam and I celebrate a number of small holidays that we’ve incorporated into our tradition — like a feast of the gods, Tomte blessings (a festival where we bless the house sprites and spirits), a celebration dedicated to the Great Mother Bear, a commemoration of the Yule goat, and a few others.
We decorated for autumn this past week. We still have the outdoor lights to put up. I’m looking forward to the frosty autumn days, to the leaves changing color, to the blustery days and that biting chill that only autumn can bring. As I said, the season makes me feel so alive, and so clearheaded.
So today I’m updating you on what to expect for the next year or so in my writing. For one thing, as I said before I’m beginning a new urban fantasy series—the Shadow Blade series—in late autumn. The first book will be out in November, although the preorder date says December at this moment, and that will be Shadow Seeking. I’m really looking forward to getting back into the action-packed world of urban fantasy, and I’m excited because I’ve never written a half demon as a main character before. It’s going to be fun to see what Kyann has to bring with her.
I was also going to write a fated mates series, but I’ve changed my mind. Given the change in genre didn’t go well with the romantasy, I’ve decided to turn that series into a new paranormal women’s fiction series. I already can see the main character, and I think she’s going to be quirky, a little bit dangerous, and a lot of fun. I’ll tell you more about it soon. What I can tell you now is that it’s going to be called the Married at First Bite series.
The other day, I polled my Facebook group, asking whether people would like to see a continuation of Starlight Hollow, only focused on urban fantasy rather than the romance, which I wrap up in book 4. People were interested, so that may be coming down the pipeline. And I still am planning a wrap up novella for Moonshadow Bay.
So that’s a taste of what’s coming over the next year to a year and half. Urban fantasy and paranormal women’s fiction! I’m going back to what I’m strongest at, now that I’ve had a bit of a break.
One other thing, I will be writing the last two parts of the Winter’s Spell trilogy as novellas, dropping the price, and bringing them out back to back in October. Unfortunately, the romantasy did not catch on like I hoped, so I’m not sure if I’ll be writing any more. I did enjoy writing it, and I will finish the story in the last two parts, but it did not garner enough interest to make it a sustainable genre for me to write.
I hope that you have a wonderful week, and that the weather is kind to you, and thanks to all of you who bought Starlight Witch. The series didn’t end like I thought it would, but I’m happy with the ending and it ended the way it needed to. And if I do end up writing more in the series, I have a good foundation on which to start. Let me know in my poll, if you’d like to see more Elphyra and Fancypants!
Love Fancypants & Elphra!! Sad that Winter Weaving didn’t catch fire. I love myth/legend stories with romance and magic. Moonshadow Bay is fun also. I’d like a trip back to Whisper Hollow and Bedlam myself. Looking forward to the new stories. Fall and spring are my favorite times. It’s cooler weather .
I love all your books, but I am sorry you will not writing more of the Winters Spell series. I love the first book and I have been looking forward to the next book. I am like you in that I love Autumn. Weather cooling off, some more showers and cool cloudy days.(Although my arthritis isn’t fond of the weather.) Please stay safe and enjoy!
Oh, I’ll be finishing it–but they will be novellas, rather than books. The trilogy was planned for 3 parts, and it will be finished, but yeah…it’s not doing well at all.
Speaking for myself, I would like to read more about Elphyra and Fancypants!
