Sometimes, being a magical matchmaker is like being a referee...
At 43, Maisy Tripwater has always been a matchmaker. And not just a matchmaker, but an excellent one. Unfortunately, this leads to her boss firing her. The company’s been losing money since they hired her, because she always finds the right person and that means the clients then no longer need help.
Just as she’s trying to figure out what to do, her house goes up in flames. So Maisy packs up her familiar Tristan, a black Maine Coon, and what she could save from the fire, and moves back to Midnight Point, a small island community in Samish Bay, north of Seattle. Her aunt Kerry has been taking care of her mother’s house for her—keeping it up. Maisy moves in, and discovers that it’s already occupied—Violet, a house sprite, lives there, and she oversees the garden spirits.
Maisy has worked as a successful matchmaker for years, so she decides to do what she does best, and sets up a home business—Married At First Bite is a Fated Mates business, where Maisy manages to find the fated loves for her clients, most of whom have already had one or more disastrous matches before. During the course of attracting the destined matches, she begins to discover that, too often, there are mysteries and baggage attached to her clients, which must be cleared up before Fate will come through with the right partner.
