Movie Quotes! I was watching Dead Poets Society and thinking about how iconic some of the lines from that movie have become. Some are from poems, of course, but they were brought out of obscurity by the movie.

There are a lot of quotes that have stayed with me, but here are some of the ones off the top of my head:

“That you are here—that life exists and identity,
That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.” (Walt Whitman/Dead Poets Society)

“Fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy night.” (All About Eve)

“I’ve got a bad feeling about this!” (Star Wars)

“Human sacrifice. Dogs and cats living together…Mass hysteria!” (Ghostbusters)

“This chick is TOAST!” (Ghostbusters)

” I know who you are. You are the autumn people. Where do you come from? The dust. Where do you go to? The grave.” (Something Wicked This Way Comes)

Mr. Dark: Yes. We are the hungry ones. Your torments call us like dogs in the night. And we do feed, and feed well.
Charles Halloway: To stuff yourselves on other people’s nightmares.
Mr. Dark: And butter our plain bread with delicious pain. So, you do understand a little.
(Something Wicked This Way Comes)

Here are my quotes, and they definitely hit me in some way:

Mulan: “If I wear a mask, I can fool the world. But I cannot fool my heart.”

Moana: “Sometimes our strengths lie beneath the surface.”

Brave: “Our fate lives within us. You only have to be brave enough to see it.”

Anastasia: “People always say, life is full of choices. No one ever mentions fear.”

And finally because it makes me laugh every time:

Deadpool: “Wait! You’re probably wondering why the red suit. Well, it’s so bad guys don’t see me bleed. This guy has the right idea. He wore the brown pants.”
