I’m over 18 and I live in the US. I’ve had so many spooky things happen to me. I’ll pick one of the ones that really stands out. My family and I were staying in a hotel for the weekend. I woke up to see the bathroom door open, and then close. Wide eyed, I looked over; my fiancée(now husband)was sound asleep next to me. I look over to the other bed, my daughter is in bed but awake watching the bathroom door with the same expression I had. That door opened and closed itself about three times in a row. There were only the three of us in the room. Needless to say the hair of the back of my neck was standing on end and I didn’t sleep worth a darn the rest of the night.

In the USA and over 18. The scariest thing that eve happened to me was when I was younger the screen door kept banging and no one had used it nor was there wind. We looks and the legend tells that a old farmer family lived there and the old man would get drunk and bang on the door for his wife to let him in. The wife would lock him outside to sleep it off in the barn , so we found out his name and when it happened the next time we called out to him and told him to go sleep in the barn and the banging stopped.

Thankfully I have not had anything to crazy happen. I’m a nurse and worked in the smallest hospital in NYS. Weird things always seem to happen right before a fatality. I was on my way to lunch and as I walked by an office I saw alittle boy standing looking out at me. I did a double take and he was gone. That afternoon we had a death in the ER. It was so creepy and I’m a big chicken.

I have had quite a number of spooky things happen to me over my lifetime. One that stands out is the ghost of my roommate’s father. He had passed close to Christmas. We all went to the funeral and then back to their house for the wake. There was an open kitchen/living area and several poeple were in the kitchen, others were sitting in a big circle in the living area. Between these two areas was a door that opened into the garage. My boyfriend and his mother (sister-in-law to the deceased) and I were sitting closest to this door. The three of us heard footsteps walking in the garage and then the door opened …. The three of us looked at each other, then my boyfriend got up and closed the door. The three of us discussed this later – the man used to come home from work, every night, and he would park in the garage, walk up to the door, remove his boots, and come inside. So we reckon he was coming inside one more time.

Years ago I was in one of the upstairs bedrooms at my Grandma’s house, and clearly heard “Boo! Hahaha!” I looked around, but there was no one there. My cousins were in the room across the hall. I listened for a minute or two, but didn’t hear anything else. The voice kinda sounded like my Grandma, but she was downstairs in the kitchen. My Mom and Dad were in the living room. I asked my cousins if anyone had laughed out loud, and they said “No”. It was so weird. I wasn’t really scared though.

I’ve had several spooky things happen in my life time. One of the things I still talk about is my ability to dream about what my friend’s babies sex wil be. I’ve never been wrong. Didn’t work with my own kids. As far as I know no one else in my family history has had any special abilities.

I’m over 18 and live in the US. About a month ago, I was home alone and the doorbell rang suddenly. It was around 11pm and it was raining & very windy outside. I went down to check the front door and no one was there but one of the two porch lights was flickering like the bulb was shorting out. Then the bell in the hallway that sounds the doorbell started buzzing. I banged on it to try to get it to stop, but it continued to buzz. My cat was crouched on the stairs across from it wide eyed & giving me a look as if to say “what is going on?” I remembered the second doorbell in the back so I went to check it out. I couldn’t see clearly outside without opening the door. I peeked out from further down & no one was there. I went out to examine the doorbell & found it was loose. I jiggled it and went back inside to check if the buzzing had stopped. Thankfully, it had! I think I solved the mystery-the wind caused the loose doorbell to ring and then it got stuck, causing the buzzing sound. I haven’t heard the doorbell randomly ring or the buzzing since. It really gave me a scare at the time!

I am above the age of 18 and live in the US. The scariest thing that ever happened to me was when my parents bought a house and my bedroom was haunted. Weird things happened, like being pinched or slapped during the night. The light from the hallway bathroom would not enter my room most of the time. Made my teenage years interesting.

I’m 82 years old and live in the United States of America. The scariest thing that ever happened to me, is a good question as not much scared me or scared me. My great-aunt was a seer and a healer, my grandmother was a seer, so I grew up with ghosts and tales of strange things. I guess one of the things that scares me is when a bird flies into my window. If it is a redbird it’s close family that is going to die, if any other color it will be someone close to you. It could be family or friends. So far this has held true for me and my family. I believe that’s scary enough for anyone.

I am from USA and am over 18 years old. The spookiest thing that happened to me was when my husband and I spent an overnight at a bed and breakfast located in an old house in rural Kentucky. Our room upstairs was nice and I did not sense anything unusual about the atmosphere in any of the downstairs. At that point in time I did not believe in ghosts. The hosts talked about the home’s history which had no mention of deaths in the house or ghosts. Our room upstairs felt calm and the bed was comfortable. That night we fell asleep quickly, tired after a long day of travel. Sometime during the night I awoke suddenly and felt something was “off”. I slowly looked up and saw the somewhat transparent shape of a girl sitting at the foot of the bed apparently looking at us. She was dressed in the style of mid 1800’s and had hair down to her shoulders . The air felt cold, the hair on the back of my neck stood up; it felt like something not of this world had appeared! I closed my eyes in disbelief blaming fatigue but when I opened my eyes again she was still there! I was too scared to look again or wake my husband. I was too unnerved the next morning to ask our host if the house was haunted. I am now a believer.

I’m almost 41, born and raised in Washington!! But the spookiest thing, thinking back, me now wouldn’t be spooked but 12 year old me was TERRIFIED. And I can’t forget that feeling. We had moved into a new house, I finally had my own room for the first time ever, and I was asleep. My room was in the basement, not terribly far from a very busy road, so there was some road noise.. but I don’t know what woke me, but upon waking, something felt wrong… cold. Like the air in the room was icy. And I sat up, because I could feel I wasn’t alone. Standing just inside my doorway, a tall figure.. cloaked.. I was certain it was the grim reaper, and it was time for me to die, and I was so scared, I opened my mouth to scream but no sound came out, I couldn’t move for what felt like forever… there was no face, just a gaping darkness. A shadows shadow.. heavy, and draping… finally I fell back and pulled the covers over my head, closed my eyes so tight! I had to turn the light on, but I needed to get to the light and the light was on the other side of that THING. If I close my eyes I can see it, like it’s imprinted on the backs of my eyelids. Finally brave enough, I threw off the blankets and jumped from the bed to the light switch. I don’t even remember whether it was still there, it didn’t feel like it. But I thought putting a cross on my wall and hanging something that said “I love Jesus!” Would save me. But looking at it as 40 something me, it was like a dementor from Harry Potter. I don’t feel scared of what it could be, and I’m pretty sure it visited me more,. I’m sure that finding my personal path only helped me in my understanding, the other side of the fail isn’t scary… this side is tho.

I am in the US, and I am way over 18. The spookiest thing to happen to me was two days after my cat passed, I was lying in bed and I felt the weight of something on the bed. The next thing I felt was a weight bump on to my side, and slide down my back. I could feel the weight against me, but could not feel anything when I reached back. The weight stayed there until I fell asleep. When I woke up it was gone. This was exactly how my cat came to bed and slept with me every night. I believe it was it was my cat saying goodbye and comforting me.

I work in a library and the scariest thing that happened was when a knife was pulled on a staff member. I had to stay calm and get the person out without anyone getting hurt. I have had a few creepy things happen to me in my life, but one of the top ones happened when I was 15. I woke up gasping from a very vivid dream of being in a car accident( I later learned my oldest brother did as well). The creepy thing is that what we dreamt was what was happening to my middle brother. Neither one of us found out until the next morning when he came home and described what happened that my brother and I had actually dreamed it like we were there.

The spookiest thing that happened to me was when I used to help out the kitchen staff when I managed a pub. Was closing down the kitchen on my own and out of the corner of my eye I saw someone walk at the bottom of the kitchen.
I went to check who was about as nobody was meant to be in the pub after close and there wasn’t anyone there plus the way I saw the figure they must have walked right threw the kitchen hotplate area. I don’t really believe in ghosts but I definitely saw someone thing. X

Living now in Australia and a few years shy of sixty. I was six when this happened in the abandoned lot behind a neighborhood friend’s house. Didn’t know it at the time but the lot contained an old graveyard and I could see things(?) sliding around and moving through the area. I remember saying “Did you see that?” to her and she said no. I kept watch for several more minutes and asked her again if she saw something. By this time, she was getting scared while I was perfectly calm.
Never got invited to her house again.

Over 18 in the USA. The spookiest thing that ever happened to me, was when I was around 7/8 I was visiting my bio dad during the weekends and was sleeping when I woke up feeling like someone was watching me. I remember turning over(cause I fall asleep still to this day facing the wall) and seeing as clear as day a shadow person about 5-5’2 ft tall in the corner of my bedroom watching me. I remember feeling scared then a calmness came over me. That occurred every weekend at my biodads place til I was 10 and moved to Iowa. The whole time no one believed me about the shadow person, til 2007 when myself/my mom and stepdad went back to the house after my birth dads passing. My parents stayed in the front room and I was in the bedroom that had been mine when I was a kid. And the same thing happened only this time when I saw the shadow person in the corner I was terrified cause it had a “friend” another shadow person just abit taller then the one I had seen as a child. I went to sleep in the front room with my parents and my step dad was wide awake cause he saw the same thing I did this time and told me he was sorry he ever doubted me. Looking back I know have a strong idea that the 1st shadow person was that of my grandma that passed in that room when I was 3 and the other one was of my birth dad. Still spooky and abit nuts. But that’s my spookiest experience. Though I have plenty more since then. This one impacted me in a lot of ways.

I am over 18 years old and located in Idaho, USA. I’m not sure if this qualifies as spooky or not but it spooked me when it happened. A few years ago my mom and I were driving to the next town over for the county fair. I was driving and I got this sudden very intense sense of deja vu that something horrible would happen if I took the freeway so I took the back roads. My mom asked why and I said, “there’s going to be a huge wreck on the freeway and I’m avoiding it.” Found out the next morning there was a 10 car pileup on the freeway at the time we were driving to the fair. Several fatalities occurred. I have no doubt that if I hadn’t heeded the warning that we would have been part of that wreck.

I am over 18 years old and I am international (Germany, to be specific).
For me the most spooky but of some kind also wholesome thing is what happened after my cat died when he was not even a year old. He had a very specific voice, a very baby’ish high meow. After he was gone I woke up at night and felt footsteps of a cat on me – I was in my student flat that night, no cats there. I tried to turn on the light but it did not respond. Then I heard this one-of-a-kind meow and a wight plumbing onto my chest, slowly sliding into my armpit, although nothing was there, at least nothing I could feel. The next morning I woke up alone. The light worked fine. You might argue that it was a dream – it was my first thought, too, but there were some little bit marks on my forearm. Exactly like when he was playing, he looked towards you from the corner of his eye and slowly bit into your arm and the moment you looked back he let go and licked where he has bitten (never caused any harm, never pierced the skin but often red stains were there for some time). So yeah, not a dream.
Until today I have no idea what happened, but I think he came for a visit as he felt my great sadness. At least that is what I want to believe.

When my grandmother died, my mother would insist she was haunting pour house as her picture would either be turned around or upside down periodically and it was funny as the shelf it was on, you needed a ladder to reach it on the wall. After that, we all talked to the picture since we assumed she wanted to know what was up with us or just a hello.

It’s hard to pick one single spooky thing, because I spent a lot of my childhood in a haunted house and several things happened. If I have to pick just one, though, I suppose the first time I heard the heavy footsteps in the attic. My dad doesn’t believe in ghosts, but begrudgingly admitted he could hear the footsteps in the attic too. That was the first real piece of proof that something else lived in the house with us, for me. After all, if my firm unbeliever dad couldn’t explain it away, it had to be real right?

We knew going in it was a haunted location but didn’t imagine anything happening to us. He spelled cigar smoke in the administration building even though no one else was with us and it was a no smoking location. My first moment came in either the cells or the church. At the time, no one else was with us and my husband was quiet. I could have sworn I heard voices speaking as though they were right in my ear and the second moment came for sure in the cells. At one point I thought I heard a blood curdling scream as my husband entered one of them and was marveling at how small the cell was. Then a door slammed without anyone or anything near it. The couple who joined my husband and I heard it too and we all got out fast.
