But First, Coffee

Blessings on Memorial DayBlessings to those who have lost their loved ones to the service of this country, this Memorial Day. And to those who gave their lives in the service of this country.

I used to not think a lot about Memorial Day, to be honest. I was rather indifferent. And then I married a veteran. While he never had to serve on foreign ground, it occurred to me that–had he done so, he might have ended up shot, or worse. And that thought, along with making friends with other military personnel and their families through the years, brought home the reality of what war really means, and what putting your life on the line for others means. Cops do this every day as well, (and no, I’m not including the corrupt cops in this–that’s another subject), and firemen, and search-and-rescue units…when you think about it, people risk their lives on a daily, hourly, basis for others. And that is something to honor and to celebrate, and something to mourn when the catastrophe wins and they lose their lives.

Anyway, a bit of a solemn thought for Monday morning, but one well worth examining, especially next time somebody is waiting for the fire department or the police to help them.

Other than that a few odds and ends: OAK & THORNS should be up for preorder all Nook, iBooks, and Kobo by the end of this week at the latest. It’s currently available for preorder on KindleOak & Thorns

I’m writing IRON BONES right now and loving every minute of it. I love writing the Fury Books, and the Bewitching Bedlam books, but this series, there’s something magical about writing it, something very intuitive for me and the characters feel like they’ve jumped out of the pages and are helping to direct the stories.

Iron BonesI’m already thinking eventual spinoffs and different directions I can take these books. I feel like I’ve opened a whole new world here with the Wild Hunt and I’m just running with it.

I want to touch on some upcoming books. I’ll be writing more Fury books later this fall, I’ll be releasing at least one Bewitching Bedlam book early next year, and probably another later on. I plan on releasing the next three Wild Hunt books this summer/early autumn, then a new Fury book(s) (I have three more Fury planned), then a BB early next year, before the last Otherworld book comes out. After that I’ll return to the Wild Hunt for more.

One thing I ask you to remember, now that I’m indie: release schedules aren’t locked in Fury's Mantle Covertight like they are with traditional publishing. If I need some extra time to work on something I can move things around, which is a total blessing. So I give you approximate dates until I have it up for pre-order (or just release it and announce it). The name of the game here is: be flexible!

But I will get you at least one Fury book this fall and two more after that as I can weave them in–I’d like to release them back-to-back so we’ll see how that goes!

And…if I plan on doing that, I’d better get to work now, so that I can keep on my schedule I’ve set for myself!

PS: I hope you’re enjoying HARVEST SONG. I know people have been begging me to write more than the last book in the series, but honestly, I can’t. Not unless I control the rest of the books in the series. There’s no way for me to promote it and make the living off of it that I need to with Berkley owning the rights to the first eighteen books. So other than the possibility (no promises) of other shorts, right now, nope. BLOOD BONDS will be it. And really, 21 books and a massive amount of shorts? That’s more than most series will ever be able to offer. 😉

    Happy Memorial DAY!!!
And Lady, your schedule is your schedule. If you have to move something around to take care of sometime else so be it. This is a hard lesson I had to learn myself at the beginning of the year. In my opinion, if anyone has a problem with your schedule then you’ll deal with it or one of your fans like myself will put a stop to it ourselves. I enjoy your books as they come out and you becoming Indie only has made it easier for me to find them. I really enjoyed Harvest Song, I really did. After Blood Bonds, if this the end of the sisters I accept that. Whatever you decide to do or whatever happens I’m behind that. I believe that if you can’t support your favorite author in whatever she does then, she’s not really your favorite. 😉
Blessed Be and Enjoy your Memorial Day!
