Fancypants hovered over us for a moment. “I’m going to my meeting,” he said.
“Meeting?” Faron eyed him curiously.
“Yeah,” the dragonette said, flying out of the room.
“Now he’s taking meetings?” Faron asked me, the hint of a grin on his lips.
“Fancypants discovered an online group of dragonettes who chat once a week. They’re all bonded, and it’s one way to allay their sense of isolation from their own kind. Rather odd, given most of the dragonettes don’t get together in the wild, but I guess it comes from living with people who are, for all intents and purposes, pack animals.”
“That’s all very interesting,” he said, sounding like it was the last thing in the world he wanted to talk about. “Elphyra…”
I glanced at him. “Yes?”
“I want you to get to know my Pack. I want you to understand what it’s like to be a part of a community like mine.” His voice dropped as he tossed the towel on the counter.
“Why?” I asked, though I knew the reason.
“Someday, you might have reason to live out with us—” he said, moving closer. He took me in his arms and lowered his lips to brush mine. “I want you to understand my world.”
“Show me,” I whispered, kissing him back. My body trembled. The chemistry between us was undeniable and I pressed against him, my breasts brushing his chest, my hips against his. I could feel him, beneath his jeans, hard and hungry.
