I re-watched Fellowship of the Ring the other day. I meant to work while watching it, which was kind of a stupid thought because yah, it’s Frodo and Gandalf and the Nazgul and hey–we were going to see the elves, Mr. Frodo! What struck me, is how much I love these stories. How much I love fantasy, and how much the world of storytelling means to me. As a writer, as a reader, as a viewer. It makes me sad that paranormal is in a low point re: the world of bookselling, because it’s what I write and it’s what I love. But like all things, it will rise again at some time.

Anyway, my thought for the day is what Bilbo told Frodo:

β€œIt’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

Yes, yes indeed. And that is what happens when you open the page to any book…when you press play for any movie…when you open the world of your imagination.

The LOR trilogy is awesome. I found myself re-watching The Hobbit #1 this weekend. I know many people said they didn’t like The Hobbit as much, but I’ve enjoyed it. I’m glad you were able to sit back and relax watching the movies. Even if you intended to work while watching.

Can’t imagine my world without you, Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Kat Richardson, Laurell Hamilton, etc., etc. I grew up with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, I won’t let anyone tell me my faves are not real. You have created REAL PEOPLE for me. Thank you!

I’ve loved Sci/ Fi, fantasy, paranormal, horror for years, though I didn’t get into horror movies until seventh or eighth grade. I grew up with my mom reading Conan, Ann McCaffery’s books, and quite a few other Sci/ Fi & fantasy books. I got into horror & paranormal on my own. I’ve gotten my mom into paranormal now (hee hee) with your books as well as Laurell K. Hamilton, Faith Hunter, Patricia Briggs, Kelly Armstrong, & Keri Arthur. This doesn’t even cover the TV shows and movies! I think what happened with the paranormal (romance especially) genre, at least as far as books go, is that there started out with a few good authors then the genre exploded, and then readers couldn’t keep up! Some of them weren’t quite as good either as the authors weren’t in the genre to stay and just “jumped on the band wagon”. You wind up with reader burnout that way. I’m loyal to a chosen few.

The paranormal has been a part of my life for almost 60 years and I’ll always read or watch it.

When you open yourself to the world of fantasy and paranormal, anything (and I do mean anything!) is possible. When I step into another world -whether it is a book, movie, or TV show- my imagination goes wild and I feel right at home.My creativity increases tenfold. And I am incredibly happy and my soul smiles.

I have loved fantasy ever since I read it as a child in fairy tales. It takes me away to other times and places.

Whenever I’m asked where my home is, I point to the stars. Paranormal tales is the closest I have been able to get.

The world of paranormal will never be at a low point for me. I love. Fantasy (of an description) and science fiction are 2 of the loves of my life. My Chris and my cats being the others. I got my best friend into the same stuff at school, via Doctor Who and she’s getting her son’s into it too. So rest assured there’s hope for future readers
